Victory For Sebastian Soderberg At The 2019 OMEGA MASTERS
Sebastian Soderberg of Sweden has won the 2019 OMEGA Masters in Crans-Montana. The dramatic final day finished with a play-off involving five golfers at the top of the leaderboard, including the current World Number 2, Rory McIlroy.
Soderberg’s superb precision and play helped him to earn the eventual win and the tournament’s top prize - including the winner’s check, trophy, red championship jacket and an OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra 150M Master Chronometer.
The 41mm watch features a symmetrical 18K Sedna™ gold case and a sun-brushed brown dial with a distinctive horizontal “teak” pattern. There is also a date window at 6 o'clock and 18K Sedna™ gold hands and indexes filled with white Super-LumiNova. Presented on a brown leather strap, the timepiece is powered by the OMEGA Master Chronometer calibre 8901, certified at the industry’s highest standard for precision and performance by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS).
This is the 19th year that OMEGA has title-sponsored the competition, which is celebrating its 80th edition this year. OMEGA was thrilled to watch its own players, including Rory McIlroy, Sergio Garcia and Tommy Fleetwood join a very strong leaderboard, including the eventual winner Sebastian Soderberg, for the four days of competition.
Raynald Aeschlimann, President and CEO of OMEGA, watched the action unfold and said, "The OMEGA Masters is one of our favourite sporting competitions and it has been great to watch another year of top talent right here at our home in Switzerland. Many congratulations to Sebastian Soderberg. He showed exactly what it takes to win here and he should be immensely proud of his achievement.”
The OMEGA Masters is renowned for its heritage, famed winners and majestic mountain scenery that delights players and spectators every year. Although it was first played in 1923, this prestigious competition has been title sponsored by OMEGA since 2001. Taking place in Switzerland, it is a special “home advantage” for the brand.
