Stephen Gallacher is crowned OMEGA Dubai Desert Classic 2013 Champion following Spellbinding Final Day of Golf
Scotland’s Stephen Gallacher celebrated an impressive win at the 24th OMEGA Dubai Desert Classic champion golfer after a fantastic final day of golf that kept a capacity crowd at the Emirates Golf Club enthralled. It was only the second European Tour win for Gallacher out of more than 400 events. He finished with a tournament total of 22 under par. Gallacher and South African Richard Sterne exchanged the lead several times on Sunday but the Scotsman’s eagle on the 16th hole put him out of reach for good.
Along with the championship trophy and cheque, Gallacher was also awarded with an OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra Annual Calendar.
On behalf of OMEGA, Raynald Aeschlimann, Vice President and International Sales Director said: “We congratulate Stephen for his outstanding performance. This edition of the Dubai Desert Classic clearly demonstrated the extent to which golf has become a truly global sport. Five different continents were represented in the top ten places on the leader board – it was perfect indication of why we’re so happy about golf’s return to the Olympic Games in 2016.”
This year the field in Dubai included two OMEGA golf ambassadors Spanish superstar Sergio Garcia and S Y Noh from Korea. Both played well with Garcia recorded a tournament total of 11 under par and Noh only a stroke behind him. The young Korean also delighted OMEGA guests when he made a personal appearance in the company chalet overlooking the 18th and final green.
