OMEGA AND JESSICA ENNIS-HILL CELEBRATE 100 DAYS TO RIO 2016

A Brazil-themed event in London begins the official countdown

With 100 days to go until the beginning of Rio 2016, OMEGA has celebrated its role as Official Timekeeper of the Olympic Games at a special Brazil-themed dinner in London.

To mark the occasion at Sushi Samba, brand ambassador and Olympic Games athlete Jessica Ennis-Hill joined guests including Raynald Aeschlimann, OMEGA Vice President & International Sales Director, and Member of Swatch Group's extended group management board.

The evening was colourful and energetic, reflecting the magic of the Rio Carnival. Following on from the success of OMEGA House during the London 2012 Olympic Games, guests were also given a taste of OMEGA House Rio as they enjoyed vibrant performances from carnival dancers and an eight piece samba band characteristic of the host city.

Reflecting on the journey ahead of her to Rio, Jessica Ennis-Hill said, “I am really looking forward to competing at Rio – it has been a roller coaster of emotions and physical challenges since the London Olympics but I have always had Rio as my next goal.”

Mr. Aeschlimann, also spoke to guests, saying, “Our role as Official Timekeeper is hugely important. If you think of all the many incredible sporting moments played out at the Olympic Games; the records broken, the medal decisions that come down to a fraction of a second – we were there, we played a crucial part in that history. This is something we're very proud of. Of course, it also globally reinforces OMEGA as a brand deeply committed to innovation.”

The Rio 2016 Olympic Games will be the 27th time since 1932 that the brand has been the Official Timekeeper. The prestigious sporting event continues to be a rich part of the OMEGA heritage.
