Cindy Crawford and OMEGA spend time with Orbis International in Peru

The supermodel and business woman visited the Flying Eye Hospital during its program in Trujillo

On Wednesday, long-time brand ambassador Cindy Crawford spent the day with OMEGA and Orbis International in Trujillo, Peru where the organisation is currently stationed.

While visiting the Flying Eye Hospital and the Instituto Regional de Oftalmologia (IRO), the hospital with which Orbis is working to train the local ophthalmic community, Cindy had the opportunity to witness first-hand the incredible work the Orbis team of medical professionals is doing around the world to treat patients with preventable blindness. Near the end of the day, she spent time with and spoke to several of the young patients who had recently received treatment from Orbis for their visual impairments.

ORBIS INTERNATIONAL
Since 1982, Orbis International has carried out programs in 92 countries to provide hands-on medical training, tools and technology for local partners to address the tragedy of avoidable blindness in their communities. As a result of these activities, more than 23 million individuals have received medical care and more than 325 thousand eye care professionals have been trained.

On the world’s only Flying Eye Hospital, Orbis brings together dedicated eye care professionals and aviators to deliver the gift of sight around the world. Local doctors, nurses and technicians work alongside Orbis’s medical team in the airplane’s operating, laser, sterilization and recovery rooms to preserve and restore sight.

OMEGA AND ORBIS
The partnership between Orbis International and OMEGA began with the documentary Through Their Eyes in 2012 and has included a number of events that have highlighted the humanitarian organisation’s goals and accomplishments.

OMEGA has created three special watches – the De Ville Hour Vision Blue, the De Ville Hour Vision Blue Annual Calendar and the Constellation Star – to celebrate the partnership between the brand and Orbis International. A portion of the proceeds from each of these striking timepieces will be donated to Orbis and its Flying Eye Hospital, allowing watch enthusiasts and OMEGA fans to contribute to the humanitarian organisation’s fight against preventable blindness in all corners of the globe.
