Omega has unveiled multiple new Seamaster releases for 2021, including striking new versions of the Seamaster 300 and Seamaster Diver 300M, Plus, Omega is now offering trendy Velcro straps for its Speedmaster Moonwatch.
A New Look For The Seamaster 300
Introduced in 1957, the Omega Seamster 300 is one of the most legendary and iconic dive watches ever created. For 2021, Omega refines the original codes of the iconic reference by introducing subtitle updates. With a slimmer case and bezel, the overall design is fresh, yet decidedly vintage with bold traditional flat lugs.
Another major update is the introduction of a sandwich dial with a base layer of Super-LumiNova and a second layer with cut-outs for the markers. The Arabic numerals are inspired by the original 1957 design. This dial architecture gives a neo-vintage element to the watch though it remains highly legible, as a professional dive watch should be.
The new Seamster 300 is available in two stainless-steel versions with a blue or black dial and bezel. Purists will appreciate the reintroduction of the Lollipop central seconds hand and the clean dial only featuring the brand logo and model name.
The stainless-steel bracelet has also received an update with a thinner and more radical design – an apparent reference to the original 1957 release. In addition to the stainless-steel versions, Omega has also introduced an unexpected and attractive Seamster 300 in Bronze Gold.
While bronze might be the ‘in’ thing, Omega has taken the concept a step further and developed this new material. Bronze Gold is an alloy of gold, copper, palladium, and silver offering a bronze aesthetic but without the drawbacks of bronze, i.e., the potential to cause allergies and form oxidation that can be a natural enemy for a white shirt cuff.
The new Seamaster 300 in steel is priced at CHF 6,150 (black dial) and CHF 6,450 (blue dial), while the Bronze Gold edition has a price tag of CHF 11,500.
The Full Ceramic Omega Seamaster Diver 300M Black Black
Introduced in 1995 on James Bond’s wrist, the Seamaster Diver 300M was updated in 2018, followed by the Seamaster Diver 300M Chronograph in 2019. As though it has emerged from the darkness of the depths, the Omega Seamster 300M Black Black offers a bold and radical design.
From the dial to the case, including the crown and bezel, the new Seamster 300M Black Black is entirely made of black ceramic, a material which Omega was one of the pioneers in using, harnessing its technical properties and extreme resistance.
That dark guise is further accentuated by the use of anthracite Super-LumiNova for the hands and indicators which glow in low light, permitting a proper reading of the time. The Seamaster 300M Black Black is priced at CHF 8,600.
Speedmaster Moonwatch Velcro Straps
Finally, Omega has released three astronaut-friendly 20mm Velcro straps – in black, silver, and white – co-branded with NASA to celebrate the pair’s shared legacy of space exploration.
The bulk and heft of space suits mean wearing a watch with a metal bracelet or leather strap is out of the question – only a Velcro strap is versatile enough to adjust on the go and expand and contract with the conditions.
To show the straps in all their glory, Omega has fixed them to a quite apposite timepiece, the Speedmaster Moonwatch, but admits that you can pair them with any watch.
Indeed, you don’t have to be an astronaut to benefit from the strap’s adjustability: The comfort they provide and their easy-to-adjust nature means they equally make excellent straps for sport, work, and travel.
Whatever color you choose, the price of these new straps is set at CHF 190.
