Her Time: Omega’s Trésor Collection Gets New Hues And Materials

May is the time to celebrate Mother’s Day, but the Trésor is not necessarily your mother’s watch.

After an interminably long winter, we could all use some color in our lives. And Omega is obliging our desires with additions to its classic De Ville Trésor family.

Omega has been giving its women’s watches extra attention these last few years, most notably with the introduction of the feminine Trésor collection in 2018. And this year, the brand is rewarding fans with an even greater selection of these slim and stylish timepieces. And in a year like 2020, we will treasure these playful Trésor interpretations.

THE SKINNY

Women’s watches have always showcased Omega’s creative side. Just look at the endless variety of vintage watches that brand ambassador Nicole Kidman wears on the red carpet. And the Trésor family is an excellent example of how these timepieces have adapted to the wants of its devotees.

The original Trésor, introduced in 1949, was a streamlined men’s watch. Debuting in 1960, the De Ville collection, of which the Trésor is now a part, was a direct descendant of the Seamaster but with an ultrathin gold case. However, it’s important to note that the Trésor for ladies is not merely a pink gold, dipped in diamonds, and downsized version of a man’s watch.

No, the De Ville Trésor for women uses both the masculine (it comes housed in a good-sized 36mm or 39mm case) and the feminine (with its slender, sinuous lines). It also embraces a certain spirit that is appealing to younger buyers. The Trésor is a time-only watch, which makes it a practical day-to-night piece. And by being delicately framed with diamonds and featuring highly polished finishes, it does double duty as a piece of jewelry.

WHAT’S NEW

This year’s editions provide more choice in materials and color. The distinctive dials now have options in domed 18K Moonshine gold (Omega’s unique new alloy inspired by shining moonlight) with an embossed silk-like pattern or white mother-of-pearl. A stainless steel option is also available.

Each model retains the classic elements of the Trésor, including 38 sparkling single-cut diamonds that hug the curves of the case. On the crown, an additional diamond is set within Omega’s signature flower in red liquid ceramic.

The gold editions also include models in Sedna gold and feature diamond-polished hands. These surfaces are super shiny but also have a rich depth of color.

And speaking of color, the latest Trésor collection also provides a choice of leather straps in happy hues of rhodium, green, and nude.

SIZE MATTERS

For watch snobs, new colors may not seem that revolutionary, but these attractive dials and straps make the new editions very appealing. For a younger audience, they represent something more sophisticated – the next step in their watch-collecting journey. These 36 and 39mm models also have substantial presence without overwhelming the wrist. Again, they are feminine without being too girly.

Additionally, the Trésor’s in-house Calibre 4061 quartz movement allows for a more compact and comfortable case size. This robust machine also brings the cost of these luxurious timepieces more attainable for younger consumers with prices ranging from $5,000 to $11,400.

Finally, all of these editions are covered by Omega’s five-year warranty.
